Moussaka

The Moussaka recipe in the Everyday Cooking for Thermomix Families TM5 cookbook had looked appealing to me but I kept putting off making it. The main reason being that I was put off eggplants after making an eggplant parmiagana stack years ago but not slicing the eggplant thick enough. Lesson learnt!

So when I finally created this recipe I made sure I sliced the eggplant nice and thin. Then when placing it in the Varoma I needed to make sure there was still room for the steam to move around. To do this I placed two chopsticks in the bottom of the Varoma dish before placing the eggplant slices in the dish and the tray.  Continue reading

TMX PIC TIPS

Did you know that you can save where you are up to when cooking a recipe from a recipe chip?

So, depending on what you are cooking, if you need to run an errand or get interrupted at any point you can save the step you are up to. Just press the home button and then press save when the option appears.

Then when you are ready to continue cooking you turn your Thermomix back on and you will have the option to resume the recipe.

And if you weren’t ready to continue cooking straight away you can always pick up where you left off by going into the recently cooked menu and you will find the recipe there with a pause icon next to it.

Pavlova Christmas Stack

The Festive season is upon us and nothing says festive like the Aussie favourite, pavlova. So of course it makes the cover of the new Festive Flavours cookbook and recipe chip!

The cookbook has three different variations of the pavlova stack; Mixed Berry, Gingerbread and Black Forest. The pavlova stack is definitely impressive and even inspired South Australian Group Leader, Annette to make this amazing Christmas video. Click here to view it. Continue reading

Poached eggs with asparagus and hollandaise sauce

I have never been able to poach eggs by myself. I’ve tried all the tricks I’ve read about but they always ended up in disaster. In the end I had to resort to poach pods which do the trick but without the pillowy soft egg white.

But that was all before I got my Thermomix. Now I can make poached eggs with ease :)

The Basic Cookbook and recipe chip have a recipe for poached eggs which includes bringing the water to the boil for 11 minutes. Continue reading

This artichoke dip from the new Festive Flavours cookbook and recipe chip is so amazing!

It is so easy to make with just a handful of ingredients. All you need is parmesan cheese, garlic, mayonnaise and marinated artichoke hearts. So if you haven’t made your own mayonnaise yet then this is the perfect time to.

After mixing all the ingredients in your Thermomix you just pour it into a baking dish and bake for 30 mins at 180 degrees. It’s that easy and it is definitely a people pleaser!

This simple recipe is that good it even features on the $50 Festive Flavour 3 Course Dinner for Six menu.

Cauliflower soup with bacon dust

IMG_7189

The weather in Perth has been all over the place this Spring. But I’m not complaining because I love soup weather. There is nothing better than having a warm bowl of soup on a rainy day.

This recipe for Cauliflower Soup with Bacon Dust from the Everyday Cooking for Thermomix Families TM5 turns the humble cauliflower soup into a real flavoursome soup!

Of course it has bacon and if you’re a bacon lover that’s all you need to know lol! The first step is grilling the bacon and leaving it to cool. Then you pop the bacon pieces into the Thermomix bowl and blitz to make your bacon dust.

The bacon is probably the most time consuming part of this recipe. The rest of it is so easy to throw together, and is made even easier using the recipe chip. All you need is parmesan cheese, veggie stock paste, cauliflower, butter and salt and pepper.
