ThermoTash is having a ThermoBaby

I have been quiet on the blog lately and I am excited to finally announce the reason for this is because I am pregnant!

The fatigue hit me hard during this first trimester, especially weeks 4 to 8 but I am happy to report that I never had any morning sickness.

I did have a lot of food aversions though! During the first 8 weeks I just couldn’t go anywhere near a salad or veggies, especially my greens. For a couple of weeks I did manage to get some greens into me by making yummy green smoothies. I even added broccoli which is something I never would have tried pre-Thermomix days! But unfortunately this green smoothie phase didn’t last long!

The perks of being a Thermomix consultant

I recently wrote about how one of the perks of being a consultant is being part of the final testing phase of the new Thermomix Recipe Platform. This made me realize I haven’t shared with you the perks of being a Thermomix consultant.

When I share my story about becoming a Thermomix consultant I share how it helped balance out the negativity I experienced in my full-time job. For me this was the biggest perk – sharing my passion and bringing joy into people’s lives. Continue reading

My ThermoResolutions for 2016

IMG_0625

Can you believe we are already in the second week of 2016?!

I am so excited about what 2016 has to offer and hope time will start slowing down now that the festive season is well and truly over.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Years. Sorry for being quiet on the blog for the past month but I ended up taking this time to recharge my batteries and now I am ready to make 2016 the best year yet!

The beginning of a new year is often a time that many of us will declare New Year’s Resolutions or set new goals. As a ‘recovering perfectionist’ I have not taken this approach for 2016. Instead,  I am going to focus on how I want to feel this year and set any intentions based on that. Continue reading

Not using my Thermomix

I bet you never thought a Thermomix consultant would ever write a blog about not using their Thermomix. But earlier this year I caught a virus and my health suffered greatly.

I would struggle to wake up in the morning and each day I would finish my full time job and come home and crash. On the weekends I would spend the whole day in bed!

The doctor couldn’t work out why I was so  tired and feeling flat. In the end he prescribed anti-depressants and that was when I schedule my first naturopath appointment. I’m not saying I’m against anti-depressants. Hubby is on them and he was the one that told me not to fill the script.

My visit with the naturopath was enlightening and I left with a plan to help me recover from adrenal fatigue. In addition with supplements to take I needed to change my diet. My naturopath wanted me to switch to a low carb high fat (LCHF) diet.  Continue reading

My Thermomix Food Journey

Pre-Thermomix I ate the standard Western diet and followed the food pyramid. I ate lots of carbs such as bread, rice and pasta and thought eating low fat foods would help with my weight managemen without knowing how much sugar was in these low-fat products. Over the years I have struggled with my weight and I was a constant yo-yo dieter.

I purchased my Thermomix after starting my health and fitness journey. I wanted to get fit and healthy before turning 30. I did this by running a half marathon and learned the hard way that you can’t out-exercise a bad diet. I then joined the 12 week Maxine’s Challenge and started changing my eating habits. I followed the meal plan which focused on eating the right amount of macronutrients to build the physique you want. The meal plan included:

  • lean meats, chicken and fish and eggs for protein
  • slower digesting carbs like oats, brown rice and sweet potato
  • fibrous vegetables like broccoli, lettuce and capsicum
  • essential fats like avocados, nuts and seeds, and oils like olive oil and coconut oil.

Cooking with Thermomix

Cooking with your Thermomix can seem a little daunting at first. But it is also exciting as you open your world to the all the benefits of owning a Thermomix which includes my number one benefit – time saving. We are all so time poor these days!

And that’s where Thermomix stepped in to save the day. Ingredients can be chopped or milled in seconds. Gourmet meals can be made in minutes. Cooking with your Thermomix is such a time saver.

So how do you cook with your Thermomix? There are three ways to cook with the TM5. You can cook manually, use a recipe chip for guided cooking, or use the automated function inbuilt in your Thermomix. All three methods of cooking are used during a demo.
